Certified Home Inspection LLC provides well and septic testing for homes on private well and septic systems in East-Central Indiana, based at 3899 Elizabeth St, Richmond, IN 47374. Inspecting since 2004, founder Michael Spurrier and inspector Jake Slinker are licensed in Indiana and Ohio.
A well and septic test looks at whether the home’s private water and waste systems actually work under a normal load, including:
Homes on city water and city sewer generally do not need this service — it is for properties on a private well, a septic system, or both.
Well and septic tests are commonly required by lenders, including FHA, VA, and USDA-type loans, before a rural home sale can close. Buyers also order them on country properties whenever the age or condition of the septic system or well is unknown, because replacing a failed septic system is one of the most expensive repairs a home can need.
The tests are performed during the inspection visit. The septic system is loaded with water and dye as it would be in everyday use, and the well is run while flow and pressure are watched. Findings are documented in the report for the buyer and the lender, so any required follow-up can be addressed before closing. Laboratory water-quality testing is a separate service — see Water Testing.
